Switching business electricity and gas supplier: step-by-step
When your business energy contract is up for renewal, don’t just take the first price you are offered – come and compare business energy prices and see what else we can offer at Business Juice.
We’re here to help every business, regardless of size, age, industry or financial status.
We provide a fully personalised service that gives you the kind of control over energy procurement that until now has been the reserve of big business.
Just follow these simple, painless steps to compare business energy prices and start saving your company money.
Step 1 – Get in touch with Business Juice!
Contrary to popular belief you don’t need to wait for your renewal letter to start thinking or to act on your new business energy contract.
Most suppliers price anything up to 6 months ahead of a contract start date. This gives you plenty of opportunity to review the market well in advance of your contract end. You can agree a contract to come into effect at the end of your current one at any time. There really is no need to wait.
The first step is to get in touch and let us know that you want to compare business energy prices. You can contact us in the following ways:
Ready now? Then give us a call on 0800 051 5770 for a free, no obligation market wide survey for your needs. Your call will be answered by one of our business energy experts, who’ll be happy to help. Simply let us know your business energy needs and we’ll provide you with a range of options for you to choose from and we’ll do the rest!
Busy? Then fill in any of the enquiry forms on our website (pretty much every page has one) and we’ll call you back when it’s convenient for you to get things moving.
eSign – Fast, Convenient Online Approval
The fastest way to authorise us to work on your energy supply arrangements is to use our eSign service to agree our Evergreen Letter of Authority.
Step 2 – tell us about your business and what you want from your energy supplier
We’re real people, not an automated service, we don’t even use an IVR. When you call, the phone rings and you speak to us, not a recorded message.
That personal touch is essential in getting the right energy deal for your business. Although it is often the trigger, choosing the right supplier for you is not always just about price. We’ll ask you all about your business and your needs. It’s worth establishing what is important to you and your business as an attractive headline price might hide a horror of customer service issues. We’ll take all your preferences into account to ensure you get the right deal as well as the right price.
For instance, do you have:
- multiple premises?
- An unorthodox energy profile e.g. using more at night than in the day?
- A mix of meters?
- An array of different contract lengths and contract end dates?
Or do you want:
- online services?
- green energy?
- smart metering?
- Personal account management?
- help to reduce your overall consumption?
- customer focused service?
If there’s anything that’s important to you in your next energy supplier relationship, we’ll be happy to discuss it with you and if it’s out there we’ll find it for you.
Step 3 – focus on your business whilst we find the best deal for you
However you get in touch with us, we’ll jump into action straight away and start searching the market for the perfect deal for your business.
You won’t have to pay us a penny for this service either – we earn money from commercial relationships with energy suppliers rather than by charging our customers. We feel it is better this way however we recognise that you may want to know how much commission we may receive for procuring your energy contract. As part of our customer charter we are very happy to do this.
Rest assured the commercial reality of our business doesn’t affect our search for the best business energy deal for you though – we’re independent and if we don’t think a tariff meets your specific needs then we’ll tell you.
Our energy experts who deal with your contract needs are commission agnostic, whether we earn £10 or £100 has no bearing on the deals that we will recommend to you and if we can’t help you we’ll be honest and point you in the direction of someone both suitable and reputable who can.
Step 4 – Decide!
You can tell us how many quote options you wish to consider; the most common request is for 3 different options however if you want one or ten we’ll be happy to oblige.
Once you’ve got your quotes from us and you’ve had a chance to consider it, it’s best not to hang around for too long.
The business energy market is volatile and suppliers often withdraw prices at short notice – so if you don’t act quickly, you could miss out.
We’ll of course keep you abreast of any price changes that may affect your deal however it pays, literally, to move quickly when the deal is on the table.
Just let us know that you’re ready to switch – we’ll take you through a simple verbal contract to secure the deal.
Alternatively, if you’d prefer a paper contract we can arrange that too.
Step 5 – Sit Back!
Once you’ve agreed the contract we will take over and handle all the administration on your behalf. Not only that but your dedicated relationship team will manage all your supplier issues throughout your contract no matter how big or small. We’re always just a phone call away.
And that’s it… 5 simple steps and you’re on your way to saving money. You’re also saving time too, leaving you to focus on what matters most – your business
Business Juice Top Tip 1
Check the dedicated page for your current supplier to understand at what point they require you to terminate to avoid being rolled over onto an unattractive rate. Each supplier has their own policy so it’s essential you understand how this may affect your specific circumstances.
Business Juice Top Tip 2
Don’t cancel your Direct Debit with your current supplier, or stop paying them, if you do rack up debt with your supplier between now and your transfer, they can prevent you from leaving and force you to pay penalty rates until your debt is cleared and your transfer can occur.
Business Juice Top Tip 3
It’s always a good idea to take regular meter readings but we understand that it is at times not the number 1 on your to do list. It is important that you make an exception however when it comes to your switch date. Suppliers can have huge problems getting the ‘change of supply read’ correct, so having access to the ‘actual’ start read can be hugely beneficial for your ongoing supplier relationship and your business’s cash-flow.
